A Minimally Invasive Solution for Excessive Sweating
Laser Axillary Hyperhidrosis Treatment is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive solution for hyperhidrosis. Laser treatments are among the least invasive of all surgical techniques, so scarring and patient immobilization are not a concern.
Target Sweat Glands, Without Collateral Damage
For treating hyperhidrosis, 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser light is used to permanently destroy axillary sweat glands by photoselectively heating sweat gland tissue without damaging the surrounding tissue. The procedure is performed under local anesthetic and is finished in less than an hour. The general steps of the treatment are as follows:
- Step 1 – Locate: Before the operation, the underarms are coated with iodine and starch is used to identify the precise location of the sweat glands.
- Step 2 – Irradiate: A 3 mm incision is made through which a cannula with an optical fiber is passed. Through this optical fiber a QCW 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser beam is fired, which destroys the sweat glands.
- Step 3 – Remove: A grating cannula is used to remove the destroyed glands.
In order to ensure maximum selectivity during treatments, Fotona’s XP Line and SP Line of laser systems feature a special QCW mode in which localized spikes reach power levels in the kW range. This enhances the selective effect of the laser when targeting the tissue, ensuring greater speed, efficiency and safety during all surgical procedures.
The Treatment of Choice – Simple, Safe, and Effective
A growing number of doctors consider the Nd:YAG laser to be the treatment of choice for hyperhidrosis, especially when the simplicity and speed of the procedure (as well as the minimal risk of complications) are taken into consideration. The procedure takes about an hour, and patients can return to their normal activities within a few hours of treatment, leading to a full recovery within four to seven days.
Fotona’s Axillary Hyperhidrosis Treatment can be best performed with the following laser systems:
- Fotona’s XP Line of laser systems offers a variety of essential tools for expanded treatment options and enhanced speed and precision of surgical and aesthetic treatments, without compromising efficacy. Fotona’s multi-application XP Dynamis includes a high performance QCW Nd:YAG surgical laser as well as a built-in, non-ablative, long-pulse Nd:YAG aesthetic laser, which together enable an extremely wide treatment range.
Superior Performance
All Fotona Nd:YAG lasers are equipped with VSP (Variable Square Pulse) technology to provide the widest range of selectable pulses and ensure greater procedural safety. Compared to conventional Nd:YAG technologies, Fotona’s proprietary VSP pulses create virtually instantaneous temperature increases that are limited to the targeted structures only. Square pulses reach peak powers faster, remain constant and return to zero immediately. This contributes to higher long-term success rates and shorter recovery times.
Fotona’s XP Line and SP Line lasers can generate peak powers beyond 5 kW, ensuring greater speed and efficiency in surgical procedures.
Handpieces & Accessories
Fotona’s specially designed, innovative handpiece technology allows safe, precisely controlled and effective delivery of laser pulses to the treatment area. More information about handpieces and other accessories is available on the product pages.
